Background: The countermeasures used to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic might have impacted mental health of populations around world. Methods: We data from Brazilian Longitudinal Study Health (ELSA-Brasil), a prospective cohort, characterize participants between 2018 (wave-3) and 2020 (wave-COVID). Clinical Interview Scheduled-Revised (CIS-R), validated questionnaire, was assess prevalence common disorders (CMDs). electronic survey applied online in May-July 2020, during severe quarantine phase Satild;o Paulo. Results: Out 4191 wave-3, 2117 responded questionnaire. Most were women, white, had university degree presented mean age 60 years-old. 517 (24.4%) at least one CMD, most being anxiety (15.1%), mixed depressive disorder (8.5%) (2.8%). Such not significantly different than wave-3. Moreover, we observed statistically significant increase ideas (9.7% 12.3%, p = 0.001), sleep disturbances (31.8% 35.1% 0.005), phobic symptoms (9.8% 12.7%, decrease fatigue obsessive symptoms. No changes somatic complaints, worries about physical health, worries, anxiety, panic symptoms, concentration, depression, irritability, compulsion observed. Conclusions: CMDs Paulo strict lockdown phase, although pattern subtle changes. A longer observational period be necessary detect putative psychiatric disorders.
